"Desert Rose"

My tears were collected in a glass vial,
And into the desert I walked.
The driest of sand, where no life grew,
Became my chosen plot.

The shimmering tube of a life’s share of pain,
Was opened and poured upon the dry sand.

I sat by the spot
Until my bones were stark white,
And crumbled in a forgotten pile of skeletal dreams.

Then one summer’s day, beside the old bones,
A tiny green shoot emerged from the dead ground.

It grew without care,
Watered by tears and caressed by the sun’s rays
Until a bloom appeared.

Only a tiny plant, and a tinier flower,
Of velvet soft petals of heartache red,
And for one day it thrived.

And for that whole day in the middle of the desert,
It bloomed and it smiled lighting up the
Ground where it stood.

By nightfall it closed, and dripping from its petals,
Were tears collected and stored
Then fell in the sand.

That small plot of land beside white washed bones
Is now the most glorious place in the desert.
For though you shed tears, they water your dreams
For even in the desert, beauty and life can take root.
