This tree was on the grounds of the Old Sheldon Church near the water faucet (I say faucet in a broad sense, it was a very old pump well) - I've seen many times that people have cemented old oak trees because the live oaks tend to go hollow and they are so huge they can fall down, so it's perfectly fine to fill them with cement to keep them healthy. But this is the first time I've ever seen one that was bricked up, and as I looked at it my first thoughts were that someone bricked up a portal to another world. I know, I'm odd - but that thought stays with me every time I look at this photo now.
