Artist's Comments

This tree was on the grounds of the Old Sheldon Church near the water faucet (I say faucet in a broad sense, it was a very old pump well) - I've seen many times that people have cemented old oak trees because the live oaks tend to go hollow and they are so huge they can fall down, so it's perfectly fine to fill them with cement to keep them healthy. But this is the first time I've ever seen one that was bricked up, and as I looked at it my first thoughts were that someone bricked up a portal to another world. I know, I'm odd - but that thought stays with me every time I look at this photo now.

Check out this photo from another deviant, taken at Old Sheldon Church Ruins too! It shows how the oaks hollow out-

That does seem like a portal has been blocked out. What a great shot! Your description has my imagination reeling too. :)

That is just...surreal. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. It makes for quite a unique photograph though!

Thanks! I've never seen anything like this either. I've seen trees with cement in them but never bricks like a wall.
